About Us

The Sanskrit root word of Yoga, "yuj" (which means "unity" or "yoke"), indicates that the ultimate purpose of yoga is to unite ourselves with our highest nature and universal consciousness.

About us | Yoga Seeds

At Yoga Seeds, we love being out close to nature and specialise in holding classes, workshops, events & retreats for all-levels. We embrace the nurturing conditions that mother nature offers to help us reconnect with ourselves, hence we are always on the go to find new hideaway destinations to unroll our mats.

From restorative & meditative quiet retreats, to fun outdoor events and team building workshops, we aim to create strength, awareness and harmony in both the mind and body. We hold firm beliefs in building strong fundamentals while aiming to make yoga practice fun and relevant to our daily lives.

Also, as big fans of Karma Yoga, we love being involved in charity or cause-worthy initiatives to give back to the community & the underprivileged as much as we can.

Join us on this exploratory yogic journey to maintain a healthy, balanced life with a calm, peaceful mind and an open heart, the fun way!

Wendy Chan

Director / Principal Yoga Instructor

Wendy’s background and interest in eastern and western philosophy led her to explore and study the workings of the mind, body and subtle energies of the universe. After exploring the philosophies and meditative practices from several traditions, she found her peace in Zen meditation and yoga. This led her to realize her true calling: to teach and share what she has learnt about yoga and meditation. Having diverse trainings in yoga and meditation in different traditions, Wendy seeks a balanced and complete view of one's practice and spiritual development.

Founder and director of Yoga Seeds, Wendy (ERYT 500) hosts regular yoga retreats in locations all over Asia. She is the lead trainer and program director for Yoga Seeds 200hr Teaching Training course. Wendy also teaches anatomy with international yoga school All Yoga in Thailand and Bali. When she’s not travelling, she’s back home in Singapore, teaching in various settings, including corporate yoga classes, yoga for children, private yoga sessions, regular studio sessions and also community classes for the underprivileged.  In fact, she teaches anywhere that she can unroll her mat! As an ambassador for Yoga Gives Back, she organizes regular fundraisers and classes for charity and is deeply committed to giving back to the community. Her style of yoga is a unique blend of Hatha, Vinyasa and Yin Yoga, with emphasis on the breath in both movement and stillness.

Dawn Wong

Yoga Instructor / Retreat leader

As a former accountant, being on the yoga mat after a long day at work became Dawn’s quick-fix for stress relief. Having practised for more than 6 years, she is constantly inspired by the amazing benefits of yoga. Other than improved flexibility and strength, yoga has brought overall body and mental wellness to many others and herself. She wishes to share this wonderful experience with others, especially the busy urban dweller who may find it a challenge making time to exercise. She strongly recommends a little bit of yoga to melt away any body tension and bring some calmness to your mind!

Dawn believes it is most important to have a fun and safe practice, and encourages students not to be too hard on themselves on the mat. Her teaching emphasises proper alignment to build a strong foundation. She feels extremely blessed to have found yoga which she truly enjoys, and to have the opportunity to share it with others.

Jasmine Yeo

Yoga Instructor / Retreat leader

Jasmine’s first yoga class happened in late 2010 where she was facing immense stress and unsuccessful coping strategies in the highly demanding job position as a perioperative nurse. The consistent practice in yoga allowed her to cope better with fragmentary working hours and varying sleeping patterns and timings. It has made her stronger and more flexible both on and off the mat. In the last 3 years, she was inspired further to deepen her practice in yoga and would like people around her to benefit from the beauty of yoga. This has encouraged her to take up the 200Hr Yoga Teacher Training course.

Jasmine wants to motivate people in getting connected to their inner self and explore their mental and physical capabilities through their consistent yoga practice. She also looks forward to helping students cope with their daily lifestyle at work or at home through the power of pranayama, meditation and asanas practice.

Jasmine is now a 200 Hour Yoga Alliance Hatha and Ashtanga certified Yoga instructor. Beginning with limited flexibility and stamina, Jasmine understands the helplessness and frustrations students have when they start out their yoga journey.

As she strongly believes and live by what Confucious once said “It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop”.

Joanne Ang

Yoga Instructor / Retreat Leader

Joanne started her yoga practice only as a form of workout as she was leading a rather sedentary lifestyle. She suffered from poor health which resulted from depression due to work and low immunity as well as a hereditary blood disorder. Being a biology teacher in her teaching years and a dancer during her school days, she naturally grew attracted to yoga and found it to be more than just a workout. It became a lifestyle for her.

With consistent yoga practice, her health improved tremendously. Having healthier mind, body and soul, Joanne now has the energy she needs to do the things she love - travel, teach, cook and yoga!

As she learnt more about the roots of yoga, she became inspired to deepen her practice and hopes to share how yoga had greatly improved, and is still improving, her life. Now, she enjoys teaching yoga, and more so, as she continues her yoga practice as a student.

Gwen Teo

Yoga Instructor / Retreat Assistant Leader

Gwen has always had an active lifestyle, even when she had to juggle motherhood, full-time work and cope with the challenges of a modern woman. She worked hard for more than a decade in the fast-paced and stressful travel industry, before moving on to the health and wellness sector, managing a physio clinic for 5 years. An avid runner, she turned to running as a way to de-stress and keep healthy. However, upon sustaining injuries from her running, she realised she needed a more balanced approach to health and fitness. Her first yoga experience convinced her that yoga is what she needed to achieve that balance, to be healthy both inside and out.

An avid marathon runner and mountain trekker for more than years, Gwen took to practicing yoga on and off to complement her running and fitness regime. Finally, she decided to take on a yoga teacher training to deepen her understanding and be able to share yoga to the people around her. With her exposure in the physio clinic, she has seen first-hand how proper conditioning through yoga is able to help people with common joint pains and hopes she can do the same through teaching yoga. She believes that yoga can help everyone achieve good physical and mental health.

Gwen teaches basic Hatha classes with emphasis on building strength and flexibility, cultivating a calm body and mind, both on and off the mat.

Melody Tan

Yoga Instructor

Melody’s yoga journey started ten years ago when she was invited by her friend to try out Hatha yoga at the community centre near to her house. She was pleasantly surprised to see that yoga is not just stretching, but the practice includes various types of pranayama and meditation to work on the well-being of the mind. She started to engage in yoga as a way to complement her fitness regimes.

During times of grief and sadness, she tried out simple pranayama and meditation and this benefited her mentally and spiritually. Her yoga practice taught her to embrace imperfection when it comes to challenging postures, reminding her to be patient and never to give up.

To deepen her knowledge about yoga, she decided to take 200hr yoga teacher training in 2015 so that she can share yoga with people to help them. She practices karma yoga by being involved in charity activities. What yoga has taught her: It isn’t about flexibility and looking cool, it’s about being yourself on your own mat, connecting your breathing, letting go of ego, focusing on your practice and getting closer to experience inner self.

Melody believes we should always practice with a beginner's mind, and learning and practicing yoga is a lifelong journey for her.
